recipes are on his website and I've made up a few. in 3 weeks ive lost 15 lbs cutting carbs white bread, pasta & sugar (including artifical) completely out. I feel great! i have a protein shake with half banana and 1/2 c of plain greek yogurt for breakfast, unlimited veggies for lunch (i dip mine in hummus or guacamole to make it tast better or sautéed with garlic) 1/2 c of brown rice, 6 oz of protein and a salad for dinner. as long as you're creative you can make delicious meals!
handful of nuts for snack or a berry smoothie..this diet is the best.

Maybe you are just at a calorific deficit and you are enjoying the water weight loss bonus that most people experience at the beginning of any diet. Enjoy your cleanse.

Dr Oz is a brilliant cardio surgeon but as a TV celebrity I'm afraid he pedals quackery, he even supports homeopathy fgs.

Well done for losing the weight but you really don't need to 'cleanse' anything.

No need for cleanses, however that is what your liver is for.

Lol yep it'll work about as well as the stick on pads for your feet to draw out toxins! Who knew my body just shoved all the toxins somewhere to not deal with it like my husband with underwear lol

but seriously OP congrats on losing weight regardless of how you got started and please look into maintaining a caloric deficit so you can continue losing weight, it's really not that hard and you won't need to restrict your diet, giving you a much better chance to learn healthy choices and sustain long term weight loss! :)

    This is absolutely ridiculous.

If you lost weight, it's because you where eating at a deficit. Not because of some cleanse. Smh

For sure...the derp is thick in the mfp today.. This place is slowly but surely being overtaken by snake oil threads, cleanses detoxes mlm scams and people who think a certain food group caused them to gain weight. These forums will be absolutely unusable soon because of all the bad info ....

How could I forget that one!!

There was a time where most of the users here understood that all this woo was unnecessary and ridiculous. But now, it seems as its the other way around. Most of the users believe in some sort of derp and there's only a small percentage left that understand cico.

I just read another thread where the op was stuck on her last ten pounds. All the replies where insane. It was stuff like, don't eat grain, switch up your foods for weight loss and so on. I was stunned that nobody suggested cico

I'm so glad to read these replies. I'm on 1100 calories and stuck, basically, for 3 weeks. I thought I'd try going down to 1000 and some friends said I should never go below 1200 and I should eat more.

I understand the concept behind slowed metabolism in times of starvation, but common sense would tell me that if I cut the calories eventually I'll lose weight.

I was told this wasn't a healthy way to lose weight. Any comments, because I've been reading this a lot on MFP.

OP, great on the weight loss. I love Dr. Oz but I also take some of his stuff with a grain of salt.

Unless you're using a food scale to weigh everything, it's highly likely you're eating over 1100 calories. Tighten up your logging and hit that 1200 number.

I use a food scale. I'm older and figured that might make a difference in my metabolism and caloric requirements.

Maybe add an exercise regime, or 'up the ante' if you already have one? The general suggestion is to eat back a fourth to half of the calories burned back, too.

Another good idea would maybe be to start getting stricter on -what- you are eating.. While eating at a deficit, if I'm having items with a lot of sodium, I have major issues on losing weight [sodium = retain water weight, oh noes].

This is working for me so far. I've found my metabolism is wicked slow, too!

Thanks Pixel. I've been eating all of my exercise calories. I'll give it another week though. I eat really well at home. Just the occasional meal out that will trip me up with sodium. I decided to cut out alcohol and see if that gets things more balanced.

You're not eating low enough to enter starvation (not 'starvation mode' there is a difference), but are you logging the alcohol? If not, that's your problem. If you are and are making it fit into you daily calories, that's not it. Not a bad idea to cut it out for a while, but it won't make you lose weight any faster because you'll end up eating those calories to compensate.

Also, are you using MFP to get your exercise calories? If you are, then you're getting a sizable overestimation of your calorie burn, and that might be where the problem is.

Temporary changes to your diet don't give you any tools to help you keep the weight you lost off. Only lifestyle changes do that. You will need to learn about foods you will be eating for the rest of your life.

Also you are eating low carb now, be ready for the initial water weight gain when you go back to regular food again.
