One Cup Diet?

I tried searching for this but to no avail so hopefully I am not reinventing an old thread. I have been utilising this diet of sorts based on something I read about a doctor who came up with this plan of eating meals in a cup. He ate about 10 cups of food, regardless of what it was, daily and lost weight yet was not languishing from ill health.

Am much tinier than the doctor so I have been able to fit about 3-5 cups a day including snacks which totally amazed me. In fact, I am able to keep within my calories allowance on MyFitnessPal yet not be looking mournfully at my refrigerator daily. I pack my lunch to work in cup sized containers and it has helped me considerably. Of course, exercise is also included in the plan.

Would love to know if others are doing something similar & to share ideas and recipes to help us along.

I use a food scale, rather than cups. I can get an accurate calorie count and eat what I like in moderation.

It's basically the same as what you are doing (or the 21-Day Fix) but with more accuracy.

I find small plates work well from a visual/psychological standpoint, but I don't think it miraculously put me in a calorie deficit. I've never heard of the cup idea but whatever works, right?

Ohhh I didn't think of measuring cups. I thought it was a Bento box-type thing.

I think that's a really clever way to reduce portion sizes for people who need a different perspective or a change of pace from calorie counting. I wouldn't trust myself not to eat 3-5 cups of peanut butter, though! :)

Haha, I think I would be terribly stressed by all that measuring and might comfort eat to overcome that stress. It's definitely more accurate I am sure ... never heard of the 21-Day Fix but will look it up. Thank you!

I bought microwaveable food containers in cup measures which can be washed and re-used. I read the doctor freezes leftovers in his (it's a brilliant tip) and zaps them when he needs a cupful of food. Except he once forgot he had ice cream in one cup & accidentally zapped it. LOL!

I find the Nutrients counter on MFP quite useful for helping me decide what I should put in my cups of food as I go along the day. It may not be totally accurate but it helps me formulate some sort of food plan daily.

y step daughter is using a system of color coded containers, ie; green for veggies, yellow for fats, etc. She's allowed so many greens per day. So many yellows. I don't know what it's called but she's also doing PIYO, which is an exercise plan. It's working great for her.

It's all rather visual indeed! I love Bentos & I have one which is conveniently sectioned into 2 almost cup portion sections. I pack a sammich and some fruit in wee cups in it. :)

Haha, you sound like my mum who was always digging into the peanut butter bottle with a spoon! Fortunately I am not as fond of peanut butter ... wish I could say the same about chocolate. Sigh.

That's probably the 21 day fix.

It's a good system for those who don't want to count calories.

The caloric differences could be vast and it would bother me never knowing if I'm in a deficit.
