Hi everyone I am new in here and need some advice. I am 26 years old 5'5" 210lbs pregnant with 4 child and a high risk pregnancy at that and now have diabetes. I am on a low carb diet about 225 carbs a day and insulin shots. I want to do some fitness work and need help with maintaining a certain amount of calories about 2100. But can't do fish because it makes me very sick other then that I'm not a picky eater. Any ideas for fitness and diet would be nice also want to loose more weight after pregnancy...please help! Thanks in advance! :-)

Your dr told you to be on a 2100 calorie diet and a total of 225 carbs, while trying to manage gestational dabetes? It does sound unusual advice based on personal experience. If you have a nutrition plan, follow it. If not, ask for a reference to a dietitian specialising in diabetes.
For exercise, walk. And ask your dr for advice on how more vigorous exercise might affect you and how insulin should be adjusted.

I would start by eating what you normally eat for a day or two and tracking everything in myfitnesspal. Then you will have a good idea of what you need to cut out or adjust so that you are meeting those goals. Too many carbs? Find out which foods are making you go over and substitute them for something else. Too many calories? Cut out the foods that aren't worth the calories to you or substitute them for something lower in calories. You have to start tracking faithfully and accurately (I and pretty much everyone here will recommend that you start using a food scale to measure your portions) so that you know what changes you need to make.

I would only suggest that any changes you do, make slowly and test your blood sugars frequently to test what the changes do to your sugar levels.

I'm currently 23 weeks and also have a high risk pregnancy due to a few factors. This is what I'm doing for exercise: I do some basic strength training three days a week, and I walk just about every day. I have a fitbit, and I try to get at least 15000 steps daily. I do not have GD and I was used to working out before, so it would probably be good to talk with your OB about what is appropriate for you.

I also think it is a good idea to visit with a nutritionist and get more specific meal planning ideas from somebody who knows your medical history and needs. It's highly individual.

As for weight loss after the baby, I know it's hard not to think about, but try not to. Taking care of yourself now will set you up to naturally lose after birth according to your own personal rate of healing and recovery. This current culture and fitness industry puts enormous pressure on women to look like teenagers weeks after giving birth. It's unrealistic and dangerous! Sorry if I'm rambling!

Oh dear lord YES IT IS.

I don't think that ANYONE who isn't your doctor should be giving you advice. If you are unsure, go get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. From, you know, other doctors.
