A test of my patience....

So I just need to vent.... I have had success using MFP in the past. Last year between late August - late November I lost 25 lbs. I fell off the wagon (holidays, kids, work, etc) but am proud of myself for only gaining back THREE of those pounds from last year!!!!!

In May, I renewed my committment to get fit and I have been exercising religiously since early May but I wasn't really logging my food (just eyeballing it). I had lost the same 2-4 pounds over and over for about 3-4 weeks so I decided not to fool around any longer and log my food. I also bought a fitbit because I suspected I had not been eating enough.

As it turns out I was NOT eating enough. I am continuing to exercise (I walk anywhere from 45 - 1.5 hours a day) and I have added strength training (kettles and our Hoist, 3x's per week). Last week, I was down 1.5lbs. I was happy!!! This week (although I am only on day 4) I have stayed the same and I'm ok with that because I know the week is not over and I'm sure (hope) there will be some loss this week.

Regardless of what the scale says, I know I am getting fitter. How do I know? I finally caved and bought some new pants. In January 2012 I was wearing a 22 in pants. My new pants? An 18!!! I am very happy about this and in fact the 18's are starting to feel loose!! For that matter, MOST of my clothes are loose or VERY loose!!!!

I know I shouldn't concern myself with the scale but it drives me NUTS not to see the numbers move!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not enough to give up as I have been working really hard the last few weeks but still frustrating nonetheless....

Ok. I am done now, just needed to get that off my chest. Thanks for letting me vent.

That's a great achievement - I know what you mean about the scales, but I'd be very happy to at least see the size get smaller!! :)

I'm sure the weight will start to go again as you carry on. The human body is a strange, strange thing.

I am scale obsessed as well. It's so hard to remember that changes may not come in the form of the needle moving. Society is so focused on lbs lost that they seem to miss that it's the inches that really count. I feel your pain!

Hi it is frustrating...I know..but remember you are starting to gain muscle and definition as well...which means clothes will fit better you'll look better but the scale is slow to move. BTW I have to remind myself of that to at times when the scale doesn' t budge and I worked my *kitten* off all week. So hang in there you are on the right track it takes time! Good Luck

Great job on all your success so far! Keep it up! I would say just try to watch what you eat more if you would like to see the scale go down. It's the little things that really make a difference. Also, you won't see results daily, so maybe force yourself not to weigh in as often. Remember, most daily weight fluctuates because it is water.
