Supplementing protein

Sometimes I will have a scoop of whey in my oatmeal for breakfast, a couple of protein bars as snacks, and a whey protein shake before bed. I would say that I am supplementing anywhere between 30% to 50% of my protein intake. But if I tried to get my protein from whole foods, I would never make my protein goal.

How much is too much?

Or is there a "too much" when it comes to supplementing protein?

Some might say so. I also tend to get about 80grams from whey supplements.

ETA: I think the only problem would be from people who deem it "unnatural" and/or "unsustainable. For me having a protein smoothie with fruit and whey is more enjoyable than choking down chicken every day.

it really doesn't matter. Protein is protein.

I supplement with both protein shakes and bars. I, too, wouldn't meet my protein goals otherwise. So far this has not posed any problems for me.

I don't think there is a too much. Protein powders are some of the most bio-available forms of protein out there. Plus it's a very low calorie source.

I would not rely on the bars so much as they are higher in cals. I use the bars more as a snack so I kill two birds in one stone.

Of course eating solid foods is going to be much more filling over time though.

That's funny because I always feel very satisfied after proatmeal or a shake.
