Good morning! I'm new to My Fitness Pal, and to juicing!! I've made a few yummy breakfast juices this week, and had a couple real flops! I'd love any tips or ideas!

    Why bother juicing?

My daughter bought me the Jack Lalanne for my birthday....I see what you mean in terms of food and intake, but have actually enjoyed it so far...as for the pulp, I put that back into my juice, so no nutrients are wasted.

I dont juice because prefer other foods - but it's my choice, the same as your choice is to juice. I'm sure you'll hear myriad of criticism for your choice of drinking your calories.

I do not juice, BUT...my coworker has a VitaMix and makes a fabulous recipe with beets and carrots. For the record, I hate beets and I still think it's awesome- and it looks really pretty :) you'd have to google the recipe.

You are awesome, I Thankyou! I have been criticized for trying this method, but it was a gift, so I'm going to give it the full effort, at least for a week or two...Unfortunately I've noticed it takes a lot of veg and fruit to get a good sized cup, so I might find it to be not very wallet friendly in the long run. But in the last three days, I've eaten more fruits and vegetables than ever before, while keeping to my calorie goals :)

I love juicing. Love it. The condition of my hair, skin and nails really improves after just having 1 juice a day for 5 days. However I don't do it too often because of the cleaning! And it takes forever. Its handier just throwing everything into the nutribullet. But I prefer how the veggies taste juiced.

I love spinach / kale, apples, celery, cucumber, lemon and pineapple. The same recipe again but with lime instead of lemon and ginger instead of pineapple.
Beetroot, apple, lemon, ginger is one of my favourites! Loads of energy after this one.
Apples, pears, sweet potato, ginger and lemon.

Lemons and limes are the only citrus fruits I juice. Apparently its better to eat fruit when it is in segments as the skin of the segments helps their digestion.

I sometimes use the pulp to make soup. I tried once to make muffins with the pulp but they weren't great at all.

My wife and I tried juicing a while back. But barely getting a full days worth of juice out of $60 of veggies and fruits was a huge turn off. Most people don't realize that all the good "stuff" is in the pulp, so good for you for adding them back in!

That sounds nice and easy! Today's lunch had 8 ingredients, and wasn't my fave by far...I think I'll try yours tomorrow morning!

I agree 100%....that is something that's been at the back of my mind, I've spent 60 bux already since Friday on fruit and veg alone...and I don't mind the pulp at all, once you stir it the pulp almost makes it smoothie-like...I couldn't wrap my head around throwing out all that good veg that was in the reservoir, I know if I were eating it whole, I'd eat the entire vegetable :) All that being said, it's a lot of work, and the machine takes awhile to clean each time...and to me time is money! I'm going to give it the best I can for two weeks, see if I notice any improvement in any ways...then decide how often I want to continue :)

Thankyou so much! I'm going to try the first one for lunch tomorrow..... I have all the ingredients you've listed and think I have found a couple of the same recipes..lol..but you giving them a quick testimonial makes it more likely I will try them :) I've been thinking about saving half the pulp for soups too, just not too sure how the fruits will make the soups taste? ...As for the benefits, I've done only three days in a row, but have definitely noticed the boost in my energy levels, PLUS the fact that I'm not starving, nor craving anything!

I don't juice too often, but every now and then I'll make some. My favorite blend is cantaloupe, carrot, cucumber, and Granny Smith apple...

    4.000 ounce (113.4 g) Carrots, fresh
4.000 ounce (113.4 g) Cucumber (with peel), fresh
22.000 ounce (623.69 g) Apples, with skin, fresh
    30.000 ounce (850.49 g) Cantaloupe, fresh melon

So refreshing! Makes enough juice to last me a few days. I don't have a juicer anymore, so I just blend it up in my Vitamix blender and then strain it through a nut milk bag.

Most of the pulp freezes pretty good to use in bulk later.

Cucumbers are great to use if you're worried about how many fruits and veggies you have to use for a full cup. They produce a lot.

My favorite is strawberries, cucumber, apple, carrots.
