Any exercise should help, but one that includes both cardio and resistance training might be your best bet for reducing body fat.

Time to lift weights! Pick an established beginner's plan. Which plan you pick is completely up to you. Some people like to stick with plans that are mostly 5 reps, some like 8-12, some like a blend. I would say that the important thing is to pick a good established plan, which to me means that its core is compound exercises (bench press, overhead press, squats, deadlifts, rows) and then it may or may not leave room for other exercises as well. Here are several programs that you can google for details. I have links to a few in my profile:

    - Wendler 5/3/1 beginner
    - Strong Curves
    - New Rules of Lifting for Women
    - Stronglifts 5x5
    - All Pro's simple beginner plan
    - ICF 5x5

Yes yes yes yes! I was beginning to go down the skinny fat road but swerved at the last minute toward Stonglifts. Changed my life and now I'm in love with lifting. It will fix skinny fat. Weights work wonders.
