Mud Run by myself?

As my next personal challenge, I want to do a Mud Run. There's one in Houston the second week in October and I'm training for it hard! Sadly, I don't have anyone to do it with.

Has anyone done one of these things by themselves? Do you have to run with a team? If you do run by yourself, do other people help you out?

Alternatively, does anyone in the Houston area want to do this race with me? I won't be fast, but I'll give it all I've got!

I did the Warrior Dash with my brother-in-law and I'm so aerobically challenged that after the first two obstacles I was by myself as he pushed on.

So yeah, if you wanna do it, go.

I did a tough mudder solo. For me, they are not social events, so I don't need/want a team. But yes, most of the time people will help anyone near them who needs help. It's a collective effort.

I went through it with my niece and nephew and I can't imagine I would have had the heart to finish without their support. @nakedraygun I had a finer team than you. They patiently waited for me after every obstacle. I find people to be very happy to help out all along the route. It was a life-changer for me and I hope you have a similar experience.

It really helps to have someone with you, even if it simply to convince you to keep going. See if you can corral someone along.

You should definitely do one by yourself. In fact my friends have been so frustrating lately with being late and cancelling and changing plans I think I am going to start doing some more things by myself minus the frustration. Enjoy and you will probably get to meet some new people anyway.

I recently did my first mud run. I was all by myself! I say go for it. Sometimes doing something alone can make you feel even more proud that you accomplished something. I was not terribly prepared and mine was on a ski mountain. Everyone else on the course was super supportive and friendly. No one is trying to trample anyone or anything :) I thought I was gonna die, but in the end it was a blast. Do it. You won't regret it!

Don't let going alone scare you there are always friendly people and you're sure to be adopted. If you're slower hang toward the back of the pack and work your way through the course and people you'll make friends in no time and might just find another loner who was brave enough to go on their own.

My biggest advice is to dress in dry wicking clothes not cotton and don't wear things that will catch up in the obstacles. If your hair is longer be sure it's pulled away from your face as much as possible. You're going to have a blast!

Oh, yeah. Next time I'm wearing contacts and leaving the glasses in my duffel bag. Loose layered clothing will be a bear. My nephew's pockets were full of mud. My spandex shorts held up pretty well, and even though my t-shirt was cotton, it was very thin, and maybe cost me a couple dollars at Army & Navy. After I scraped the mud off it came out pretty well.

I train by myself so it was no big deal. My brother-in-law does away more running and aerobic like programming than I do.

But I can out-lift his speediness any day.

I've run almost all of my mud runs alone. I usually make a friend along the course though, I don't mind talking to people that i don't know. I've never had a problem finding a boost or some help with obstacles if i need one, most people are willing to help and some will even hang out at certain obstacles for a while to help people. My last race I was with a team, we stuck together, and they even waited for me when I stopped to help a guy that was cramping pretty badly (as massage therapist with the know-how to stop a cramp I feel like I should help if they'll let me... cramping is no fun)

I much prefer to do things like this on my own. make friends along the way and do what I want at my own pace

Thanks for all your encouragement! I pulled the trigger and signed up. Talking to strangers makes me way less nervous than the monkey bars at this race :) I'll have to do the first to get through the second!
