Calorie burn

I'm sure this has been asked to death- but my question is how accurate do you think the arc trainer at the gym estimation of calories burned is? I put in my current age and weight- so I was hoping it was fairly accurate.

Do you plug in height and gender too? If the arc trainer assumes you are male....not so good. Height AND weight gives the machine a (very) general idea of lean muscle percentage. More muscle....generally a higher burn.
Log the number in MFP. Eat back a percentage. Test that out for a few weeks. If weight loss stalls, then eat a smaller percentage. If weight loss is higher than expected (or you feel run down) eat more.0
