hello, I'll start insanity soon. I have about 50-60 lbs to lose and I'm nursing which burns about 5oo calories a day. Any suggestions as to how many calories I need to take in?

Set your MFP goal to lose 1 pound per week, enter your height and weight, and see what calorie goal it gives you. Then add 500 each day for nursing. I'm not really familiar with Insanity, so I don't know how many calories it burns. Maybe log it as circuit training or cardio?? Then eat back at least half of those exercise calories. Or if you have a heart rate monitor that would be even better, since MFP can only make a guess at how much you burn.

Set your calorie goal to maintenance, whatever this is per MFP. Do not log nursing and do not try to reduce below maintenance either, and this will create a reasonable calorie deficit for you. When you exercise, eat back your calories.

I am a nursing mum too. be careful about injury with insanity as your body still has the muscle relaxing hormone's in its system. I have been visiting a chiropractor as this is my third baby and my hips are feeling it, when I asked about taking up insanity, she recommended I undertake Pilates for awhile as she has seen a lot of people coming in with back, neck and ankle injures due to insanity workouts.
Just thought I would pass on the info. !
