Logging Your Weight

Hey,
So I logged my weight last week and had gained 6oz since. It was probably water weight, as I was bloaty. Anyways, I logged that... Now when I lose that again, and get (hopefully) smaller, it's not going to count that 6 oz, right? As in, say I go back down 8oz... It won't say that I lost 8oz, just 2, right? Am I making sense? I don't know why I even entered that gain. I wasn't thinking.

I don't know that's why I only enter in a new low. If I gain or stay the same I don't do anything. I just wait until the next new low. And I don't do ounces. I just round it off to the pound.0

It will give you credit for losing again. So if I'm fluctuating I do like Bshmerlie and don't enter it, since I don't want to get congratulated on losing the same 2 lbs over and over!
But I think you are asking about total loss, and no, that won't include it. That will be calculated from your starting weight.0 -
It will add the 8 oz to your total loss. Last week it subtracted 6 oz from your total loss.0

I log mine every Monday whether it is up, down or the same. It will say your loss is whatever it is from your last logged weight on your status and then your profile will say your loss from your starting weight.0

i log once a week, regardless of what it tell me.0

Heh, all of our answers look confusing to me, so I will illustrate.
Say you started at 180 and lost 2 lbs to get to 178. Total loss=2 lbs. Then you gain 1 lb (and it says nothing on your feed) but your total loss changes to 1 lb. Then you lose 2 more lbs to get to 177. It says you "lost 2 lbs!" on your feed, but your total loss becomes 3 lbs -- 180 to 177.
Make sense?
It won't say total loss of 4 lbs (2+2), as it will have added back the 1 lb gain to the total.0 -
I log every change...the good...the bad...the ugly. It helps me to track those water fluctuations and be able to figure out what foods that I might have eaten to cause it.
Think of it like your checking account/credit card...you subtract from your starting point...you add to it...subtract from and so on and so on. At the end what you get your balance.0 -

Okay awesome, so it won't add that into the total lost? I can probably just delete the update on my feed, but I didn't want it to be included in my total. I have not logged higher, I don't know what's wrong with me haha!0 -
I delete many updates on my feed!0

I can't do my gains, or I will get upset. I have a bad relationship with looking at something like that. I will become obsessive and possibly quit. I like the idea, but more so when I get close to my goal. I don't actually have a weigh in day, I just know I do it at least once a week randomly. I will sometimes do it more than once, but those are usually the days that I don't track it I'm not even sure what the heck I will do when I get to maintenance!0

I log my weight in MFP once a week, and so far (4 months) it's all been losses.
For a couple of months I've also been using Happy Scale (iPhone app) to log my weight every day, which shows the ups and downs and general trend down.
I find this arrangement gives me good data and less worry.0
