I'm eating 1200 or less calories a day, working out by walking 5 miles 5-6 days a week and I've noticed if I go over 33g of fat a day, I don't lose anything. It's not just calories that need to be watched. It's fats and sugars too.

Nope, only calories matter for weight loss. Nutrition is a different kettle of fish.

Weight loss isn't linear. Some days you go up, some days you go down. Hormones, exercise, sodium - all these affect water weight.

Look for a downward trend over a long term. Apps like Happy Scale are good for this if you want to weigh daily.

Thanks everyone. I guess I see everyone in the gym weighing in and loosing 3,4,5 lbs every week and are a lot smaller than me and I can't seem to get the same results, but looking at all your positive comments a loss is a loss and I'm eating healthily and not doing a fad diet. I will be better off in the long run. But new day today. I'm weighing everything. I have measured my daily milk. etc. Here we go :#

Good to hear you say that!

I'd be concerned about those people in the gym, not envious! Losing that much means they're probably not sticking to sustainable habits. They're probably depriving themselves and will later want to binge to catch up. They will get to their goal and then slacken off and gain it all back.

Make small changes that you can live with.

The goal of calorie counting is to learn to be caloric-aware so you can maintain a healthy weight for life. Good luck and best wishes!

    What?
no you don't unless you're surrounded by morbidly obese people on medically supervised VLC diets or people in the first couple of weeks of dieting

Also why are they weighing at the gym? First thing in the morning, after the bathroom, before eating and naked is the most stable point.

And if they are they are losing more LBM and water than fat and risking health issues

1lb a week is a good consistent loss but weight loss is not linear so judge over 6-8 weeks
