Grams of Sugar

I am really puzzled on this recommended sugar intake of 26g daily. It doesn't seem much when a bowl of watermelon will take up 19g alone of that... For everything else (but sodium...) I meet AT the goal or just a little under/over. But I seem to ALWAYS go over on the sugar, and usually it's because I'll have 3 servings of fruit, and like a low cal whole wheat bun, and then I am over it by FAR.

Am I supposed to ignore the sugar in the fruit, or what??? I am not over eating, I am not diabetic, and MOST (if not all) of the daily recommended sugar intake is from natural sources(such as fruit). Do I really need to limit my sugar intake with my current eating habits?

Honestly, if you have no reason to watch your sugar, I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you're getting most of your sugar from fruit. I track my carbs, but I pay absolutely no attention to my sugar. It hasn't affected me at all.

Eating less than three portions a day of sweet fruit would fix it, but the limit is probably too low.

Thanks for your replies. Someone I know in real life also suggested to not worry about it if I don't have a reason to watch it. Especially since most of it comes from a natural source. :)

I'll look at that link what was posted now.
