Going to a party. How to calorie count?

I am going to a party with my church group tonight. I know there is going to be goodies and snacks and chocolate cake there. How do I calorie count that?

You can count some things if you know what the item is... but you'll have to guesstimate.

    Use reasonable portions and guess.

I usually choose to eat a "normal" portion of 1 or 2 things, instead of small portions of many things.

To me it helps simplify the calorie guesstimating, since I only have to find an equivalent for 2 items. Also, it makes me more choosey over what I decide to eat. Do I really want some terrible store bought cookies, or a gooey homemade brownie? The cookies just aren't worth it when you get more selective.
