I run with a double jogging stroller and my 3 year old and 15 month old. It's just awkward. I run about 2 minutes faster per mile without it but I rarely get the chance to do that. Anyone else run with a jogging stroller and have any tips as to form? I dunno I try one handed two handed and it's just awkward.

It is awkward. 18 years ago I was doing just the same. The purpose-built single stroller we had was better / lighter; the the double wide, a bike trailer conversion, which was like a tractor-trailer in comparison.

I pushed ours with one hand, off-set my body somewhat to the outside of the stroller, opposite the pushing hand, and just went with it, switching hands (and sides) occasionally.

To be honest I think all the running I did pushing our kids helped my training, and it was great time with them too.

Oh yeah it's definitely a good workout and they do enjoy it. I just feel like I just be doing it wrong, but I guess not.

Pushing with both hands I found very uncomfortable. Standing to the left of the stroller, holding it with my right hand, was more or less my default. Must admit the bike stroller conversion was harder to control than the other.

Eventually they got too big to push and I popped them on the back of our tandem which towed a Burley Piccolo for the older child. Quite the long train... our family "wagon". Given how hilly Vancouver is even though I was a bit sad to see them grow older, it was nice to get them on their own bikes. Bonus: when they start to ride they become running buddies again, them riding, you running.

I have no kids myself, but I see people in my neighborhood doing it often when I am out taking a walk.

Something to consider: all that time you put in running with your kids is still valuable training time. As long as you are working out well within your aerobic range (can still chat with the kids without gasping for air) ... then don't sweat it. You are simply building up an aerobic base and running volume and that *will* help improve your running over all.

Meanwhile... if you haven't tried it already, try running beside and behind the stroller handle rather than directly behind. Push one handed. That was the best combo for me.
