I am new to fitness pal and love it so far. I have been doing 30 to 45 minutes of cardio every morning. I am a bartender and work 8 to 12 hours a day......does anyone know if I can use my running around at work all day as a form of Excercise (moderate walking) to track calories burned?????

A rough estimation of how many calories you burn doing bartending for 8-12 hours would be around 200-300
    Atleast 150 calories.

I would include work in your activity level (lightly active or active) rather than logging it as exercise.

No... that should be part of your activity level. So if you put yourself as active, mfp will give you more calories. But don't count it as exercise or you'll be double dipping. Only count your actual exercise (your cardio) as exercise.

Grab a pedometer. If you have a smartphone (and can keep it on you at work) you can turn step counting feature on and can give you a rough estimate of what your personal activity level is like at work. I use a Fitbit Flex and find its pretty good and keep me at my goals.

If you marked yourself as lightly active, then no.

No I wouldn't log that. I only log intentional workouts . your job should be included already in your daily calorie allotment so logging it would be double dipping .

I'm on my feet most of the day, and upgraded myself to moderately active, in addition to my 30 minutes of cardio 5-6 times a week, and I've still lost weight while eating accordingly.

This link won't tell you how to designate your activity level, and I would be cautious about taking the calorie recommendation verbatim, but it will give you a good picture of how much time you spend being sedentary vs. being active.

Dianne, I always read where I see you've commented!

My sons suggested this when they did my initial MFP set up. Hence, chores for a household of 7 became part of my Daily Activity Level!

I used to work retail. I'd take my 8 hour days . . figure I stood around 3 hours with lunch and breaks and being lazy and would do 60 * 5 * 3 = 900

    No

It's your activity level not exercise

    Don't double count

Actually, you can include your job as part of your activity level, OR you can log the time that you spend on your feet as some kind of light exercise. For the sake of accuracy, you can't do both.
