I didn't. I would just drink lots of water when I felt hungry. Stayed at the1200 cal and lost 10-12 lbs a week and kept it off until I had to have surgery and couldn't exercise for 2.5 years. Now starting all over again.
You don't gain weight from "having surgery", you gain it from eating too much. You obviously learned nothing about sustainability by starving yourself to lose that amount of weight a week.
OP, Yes, eat a portion of the exercise burns. The winner gets to eat the most and still lose.0
