Training for 4.2 run

a friend and I have signed up for a 4.2 mile run in December. This is the first run I've done. I'm currently able to run 3.25 miles at 4.9 mph on treadmill (and feel ok doing that). I'm in Texas and only running inside right now due to temps and childcare issues.
Anyway. I'm using a couch to 10k app and doing ok. Is there anything special I need to do to be ready? I know I need to move outside and plan to do that in September.

You've got lots of time.
Don't push your pace right now... while you are building up endurance by adding running volume you should be running at a pace that would allow you to carry on something of a conversation with someone without gasping for air between words or utterances. If you can't, slow down. If you can, terrific! Keep that up!0 -
Thanks for the reassurance. I appreciate it.0
