Am I doing it wrong? (Exercise)

Background: I have gone to the gym with a trainer before and I have gone without trainer assistance. I have done workout DVDs at home. I HATE TOUGH WORKOUTS. I don't want to work out in a "push yourself, this effing sucks and you hate life right now, oh but it's been 15 mins and now we're done" kind of style. When I push myself hard, I hate it, so I don't go back. I'm sore, it hurts to move, and I want to crawl in a dark hole and Netflix binge until I feel better.

When I go to the gym, my primary goal is to have fun and enjoy the workout (so I keep going), not to achieve any specific goal. And I typically go for a few hours (45-60 min cardio, 45-60 min weights focusing more on repitition than heavier weight, 15 min stretch, a relaxing swim, and soak in the hot tub, in that order). I'm never sore afterwards, and I generally feel better/looser on the days I go. But I know people with know-how would scoff at a 3 hour workout plan.

So, am I doing it wrong?

If you have time for that, enjoy it, and feel that it moves you towards your goals, how could that be wrong?

If you're meeting your goals, enjoying it and can fit it into your schedule - sure! We all have different styles of exercise and different things we enjoy.

I wish my gym had a hot tub...

Oh, it helps that I only work 3 days a week, 12-13 hour shifts.

It depends on what you are actually doing at the gym. If it is e.g. a 1 hour walk on the treadmill that covers a total of 1 mile, and then working out with 1 kg dumbbells with 10 minutes breaks between sets, swimming 2 laps in the next hour, then logging the total as 3 hours vigorous exercise burning 1000 calories, when in reality the burn was about 100, and eating back the 1000 calories, yes, you are doing it wrong.
If you are just doing it for fun, not aiming at high calorie burns or building strength, just staying active, then nothing wrong with it, moving is always great for your health, and the more you move, the better for you.

Exercise is exercise and is good for your body. It beats Netflix bingeing. Many people who work out like the burn, the soreness, the new goals, and the sweating and exhaustion. I'm very competitive and that's what's fun for me. I could never do your routine for long, as you couldn't do mine, but neither is wrong.
