Need to change mindset. From fat to thin now to bulk

starting my bulking journey today. I was 18stone and cut down to 12stone through my own diet plan and exercise. Now I have worked out my TDEE and added 20% on so I have a surplus to hopefully now add some muscle. I will accompany this with heavy weights. The only problem is that I have to change the way I think and not ponder on the fact that I need to eat fat I will put on weight I will probably look podgy. This is hard when you have trained your brain to think I must eat less I must look thinner fat is bad. But I know from what I have learned that it will be good fats and food I am eating so this will not make me fat. It will help build the muscle before I cut in a few months to hopefully show the muscle I have gained.
This will be a body and mind journey for me definitely. And I am sure I am not the only 1 thinking this way. As we all get brainwashed into thinking this way through the media we see and read.
Good luck to you all out there like me. If I can support you please reply. If you want to join me in the journey come aboard. If your just interested great. Hello. Thanks for reading Carl

Congrats Carl on the all the work till now. Good luck with the bulk. I was like you before I started bulking a year and a half ago but once my PT knocked it out of the back of my head that if I ate more I wouldn't get fat like I was, I began to trust the process. Best advice I can give is to increase the calories slowly so you aren't overwhelmed in the first few days. Also pre log the day so you know what you are eating and when which prevents situations where its 9pm, you have a million calories left and you are wondering how to fill them. Enjoy all the foods. I'm nearly at the end of mine after adding 15kg on.

Fantastic well done! I'm doing a nutrition course with btn so I'm learning all the time. I bet you look different. Hope the cutting goes well

Thanks. I have filled out in my clothes, especially my suits which is great & am getting stronger on the weights. I'll be switching over to maintaining the weight as I have no interest in "cutting" (hate that word). How much you looking to add on? What is your calorie amount? Mine is 4,000 owing to a high metabolism.

I am starting on 2884kcal but am looking more at the grams of protein fat and carbs I will be having. As I'm 6weeks into my course and have learnt that's the best way to do this. I will assess every week and up it from there. I don't know my goal just want to be a bit bigger with the upper body really. Just see what I can do by being healthy aswell
