Has anyone any recommendations for low impact HIIT workouts? I've strained my lower back deadlifting this week, enjoyed a 20 min HIIT Stationary Bike workout today - 30 sec full whack with 30 sec active recovery!

    1. One hour light rest alternated with
    2. Two hours full rest
    3. Repeat until back is healed

+1 to what he said. if id hurt my back id only have one thing on my mind and thats getting it fully healed. I certainly wouldnt be doing intense anything. Maybe a walk, but tbh its screams rest.

My recommendation for HIIT workouts while you have a strained back would be - DON'T!!

Stay active but you want controlled movement after a good warm-up and not going flat out.

Rest is the best thing at some point

Rest up. Best workout you can give your body. Hardest one to do though!!

Stationary bike is my go-to for low impact intervals. Pool exercises also work very well but I wouldn't chance it with a back injury -- most pool stuff is very core-intensive.

Biking sounds good. My super-fit husband has major, chronic back issues and cycling is his sport.

When my back is feeling sore, I usually head to the elliptical. I've been playing with the 30-20-10 sec intervals. If possible, consider mixing the cardio with back-friendly calisthenics- maybe pushups and triceps dips, depending on your sore spots. Like the others, however, do take it easy if you've really hurt yourself.
