I am thinking about buying a heart rate monitor. I am not looking to spend to much. I was thinking about Polar FT4 or Polar FT7. I was wondering if the FT7 was worth the price difference? Are the any heart rate monitors that you reccomend? I really like to spend under $65. I have never used a HRM so I am completely lost when it comes to all of this. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks !!

FT7 is much nicer looking watch but very little added functionality.

But as you haven't even stated what activities you intend using it for and why you feel you want a HRM in the first place any advice is going to be what suits other people rather than you.

You might want to expand on your OP.....

I am looking for a HRM mainly to have a better accuracy for how many calories burned. I am not really sure of all their uses. I am a complete novice when it comes to them.

Heart rate monitors are only accurate for steady state cardio (like running or biking). They're not for activities where you stop & start.

Activity trackers calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight. Unless you get a combo activity tracker/HRM, you need to log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking). For under US$65, you could get a Fitbit Zip or a Jawbone UP Move. I wouldn't bother getting anything that doesn't sync with MFP.
