Alcohol and temporary spike in weight

Saturday night I went to a bar to see a show and drank quite a bit and when I weighed myself this morning I had gained 4 lbs since I weighed myself Friday morning. Two weekends ago I drank a large amount on Saturday night at get together for a friend's birthday and weighed in 6 lbs heavier on Monday but was back down to my pre-weekend weight the next day. Anybody else have the same experience with heavy weekend drinking and temporary weight gain?

I gained ten pounds on a four day weekend in Chicago last week. I lost 3 pounds the fist day back, 2 the next, 1.5 the next and one the next. And yes, I drank a lot starting at 8:00 AM with a bloody Mary, beer lunch and cocktails before dinner and beer all evening. For me it comes off pretty fast, I also run most mornings but I don't know it that is what gets weight down or if its diet.0

I tend to shed drinking weekend weight pretty quickly too over the next couple of days. I also put on weight when I drink heavy.. Alcohol calories add up fast!!0

Maybe you're getting dehydrated, which is an effect of alcohol consumption, and you are retaining water to compensate. An easy solution is to stop binge drinking. Having one or two regular sized drinks, with food, spread out over an hour or more, won't do this because the smaller amount of alcohol is easily metabolized by the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase, in your stomach, before it gets to your liver, your bloodstream, and your brain, where the diuretic effect of alcohol takes place.0

I'm aware that binge drinking isn't the best thing to do, but I don't make a habit of it and I wasn't driving. Although next time I think I will lower my alcohol intake by drinking water every other round0

I've had the same experience going a bit overboard with alcohol. Weight shoots up 3-5 lbs and goes back down within a few days.
Luckily that only happens a couple times a year and that's it.0
