Fitbit calorie burn is your estimated TDEE based on how active/inactive you are.
TDEE = BMR (calories burnt at rest/calories your body always burn) + daily activity + exercise
Fitbit shows your calorie burn from midnight to whatever time you check it. It breaks down your BMR into 15 min segments. This means your calorie burn will keep increasing until Midnight. Example:
Fitbit estimates my BMR to be 1344. <- If I didn't get out of bed all day, that's what the device would read for my calorie burn at midnight.
Fitbit breaks this down to 14 calories every 15 mins.
So if I look at my calorie burn at noon: 672 calories will be from my BMR and the rest is daily activity and exercise (if I hit the gym in the morning)
Every 15 mins, I will get 14 calories added to my calorie burn for my BMR.

Now for the other question.
Fitbit sends MFP:- Calorie Burn as of last sync (used to create your adjustment)
- Steps
- Weight (if logged there)
- Sleep Minutes
- BF% (if logged there)
MFP sends Fitbit:- Calories Consumed
- Weight (if logged there)
- Exercise* (if logged there)
*When logging exercise on MFP, you have to have the correct start time and duration. MFP will overwrite the data that Fitbit tracked with the exercise log which is why time and duration are important. You can log exercise on either site, but when logging on MFP it can mean that you lose any Fitbit adjustment you would have gotten or get a negative adjustment if enabled. You also only need to log exercise that isn't step based like cycling, swimming, or elliptical.0 -
Oh and the first day you have the fitbit, the calorie burn isn't correct. The reason, is because it takes a guess at what your activity level was like prior to setting it up.0

Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit
Set your goal to .5 lb. for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided
Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
In the MFP app, go to More > Steps and choose Fitbit.
Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments. No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time.
