ive been on this app for about a week, and in this time I went from 216 to 209... Anyone else have this dramatic weight loss? Also, I feel great and I'm doing a 1200 calorie diet and stay at home taking care of my three boys and I don't workout. I'm not sure if this is healthy. Add me as a friend if you'd like.

Your first week or so it is fine. Mostly water weight - things should slow down a bit soon. 1200 would be far too low calorie for me. If you keep losing so rapidly you might want to rethink such a low goal.

It happened to me in the first three weeks and it just happened to me again, this past week. I consider it to just be excess water weight, with a little bit of fat leaving me.

How tall are you, How much are you looking to lose? 1200 would be Way to low for me... As far as your first week, it is mostly water weight and will likely slow down.

It is likely water weight and will slow down. Is it MFP telling you to eat 1200 cals?

Did you enter your information and goals into MFP or did you just pick 1200 calories?

If I assume you are 5'5" and lightly active, then 1200 calories is ~1100 calorie deficit, or enough to lose 2.2lb/week. If you are taller, then it is an even bigger deficit, if shorter, than smaller deficit. The rest (~5lb) is water and food waste weight.

It is on the high side of healthy weight loss (recommended 1-2lb/week). If you are not lifting weights to maintain muscle you should probably go at a slower pace. Not only that, you are likely to be really hungry on 1200 calories

Bump up your activity level and go play with the boys. I'm sure they run around enough to keep you active. There's no need to eat a 1200 calorie diet while chasing them for a couple of hours. You also might consider dropping the goal amount to 1 lb per week as you are wanting to lose less than 75 pounds. That will give you even more calories, and you might still lose more than that, depending how much running around you're actually doing.

Maybe try adjusting MFP to 1 or 1.5 lbs per week. 1200 seems awfully low...I'm only 5'6", 184 and they give me 1230 cals at 1.5 lbs per week and sedentary...and that is before adding in any exercise or my fitbit adjustment each day. By the end of the day, I am typically around 1400 cals.

I've dropped 8 pounds in the last two weeks. I've changed from 2 pounds a week to 1 pound a week weight loss. I can not maintain the 1200 or 1500 calories with my level of activity. Do you log the activity with your children?

3 boys at home - did you pick Sedentary non-exercise activity level?

That's not true - that's Lightly Active easily.

And then that's the eating goal only on non-exercise days - when you burn more you eat more - on days you exercise.

Besides that, ditto to water weight - easily 3-4 lbs of you really changed sodium eating levels.

it's pretty normal for the first week or two and then it will level off...you are dropping a lot of water weight and you also have less inherent waste in your system due to eating less.

watch it over the next few weeks..if it doesn't even out, change your desired rate of loss goal and eat more.

I set my exercise to seditary. My phone does log my walking which is about 3000 a day, but when my calculator adds the extra calories I can eat, I don't eat them. I try to stay at the 1200 calorie limit. Not hard for me to do. I don't like cakes and sweet things. Cutting most carbs out was easy too.

That's not your exercise you are setting to Sedentary.

The setting is all about your daily life outside of exercise. Which with kids is Lightly Active

On MFP exercise is not accounted for until actually done and logged.

Being able to do low calorie and it being a good idea or two totally separate things.

Reasonable weight loss goal can be fat only.
Unreasonable will include muscle mass, and you can have the fun of repeating this next year when you gain the weight and likely more back and vast majority of dieters do in maintenance. But it'll be harder then.

Don't make the mistake of thinking bigger is better, or that you can trust hunger signals when you don't know all the reasons why they can go awry.

Besides, when you lose weight and you need to eat less to keep losing - how low exactly do you think you'll plan on going?
