Cals In VS Out- weekly report

I just got my first weekly report. I just want to make sure I understand it correctly. I have MFP set to 1lb a week or a -3500 cal deficit. Cals in VS out says -389. I took this to mean my actual deficit for the week is only 389 cals but the difference between cals burned and cals eaten is 3889. I am going in the right direction, correct? I am just confused by this.

It just means that instead of having a -3500 cal deficit you had a -3889 cal deficit, i.e you made a bigger deficit than you needed to reach your goal (3889-3500=389).
ETA Yes, you're going in the right direction :-)0 -
If you are looking on the Nutrition tab in the App at the Weekly Net Calories then.
If Net Calories Under Weekly Goal is negative then you had smaller deficit than planned.
If Net Calories Under Weekly Goal is positive, then you had larger deficit than planned.
I may not know which section of the website you are referring to...0 -
This is on the email MFP sent me. I burned 16,082. I ate 12,293. I figure that to be a deficit of 3889 but I took -389 as my actual deficit. I did loose .8lbs.
So, if the deficit was on point...-3500, then it would say 3500?0 -

yes, according to this your total deficit was 3500+389. Keep up the good work.0

Yeah, this is Fitbit, I get this report too and it confused me at first. That's the amount of the deficit above and beyond your anticipated deficit it looks like. It's weird, but you can just calculate your total deficit by doing the math between the calories in and the calories out that they've provided there to the right.0

I should have paid better attention. Thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering why I was just now getting it. I just got the fitbit a little over a week ago.
Good to know. I just want to make sure I am not missing anything because the whole net cals and eating back cals is new to me.0 -

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight). If you eat at a reasonable deficit from that, you will lose weight.
Fitbit e-mails you a report every week. I like going back through them to see the trend.
FYI, MFP has a Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users0 -
Thank you for the info!0
