a few days ago i decided to try something new, instead of logging in what i have eaten i'm going to log in what i have had the will power to say "do i really need that?" to... and the results were that i was eating more than a staggering seven or eight hundred calories per day.
of course mfp won't allow me to complete the daily entry (as i expected), but i am defenatly eating less unecessary calories.

just sharing incase it might be beneficial to anyone else. ;)

Great idea! I think I'm going to try working up a typical day from "before" and see how shocking it was, lol!

I usually suggest to people just starting out that they don't change what they are eating at first, just log absolutely everything for the first couple of days. I'm sure it's a huge shock to most of them and I think it's beneficial.

What I really wish is that MFP would give people their maintenance calories for their goal weight for the first week they use the app and then tell them to eat the way they have been while logging it all. It would allow them to see what they should be eating vs. what they are currently eating. Then throw in the curveball of fewer calories to actually lose weight.
