1 week into the C25K app from Zen Labs. Can anyone tell me the difference between the free and pro version of the app?

    Hi there!

I think the only difference is that the Free app is supported by advertisements. If ads annoy you, then pay the $1.99 and get the pro (I did and had no issues).

the Zen Lab program goes by time, not distance. Because I'm a new (slow) runner, even though I "finished" the program by running the last session with 30 minutes, I was NOT running 5K. I had to push myself AFTER the program was done to get to 5K.

    Good luck!

Thanks @princess7955 . Have you tried any other apps or just the Zen Labs C25K. I also downloaded Map My Run. I see they have a built in C25K program but it seems like it's expecting you to already be able to run.

I used the Run Double free app after completing a 5k training program through my health insurance. Run double was great there were no advertisements. After running my one and only 5k I realized that I don't like to run!!! But the app was great Good luck to you

But as you're getting more into the training program, consider upgrading to "Pro", where you can put the app in the background, switch tasks while you're training, change the music you're listening to, add custom notifications, and choose your own sounds to notify you. It even updates your facebook status when you're done with a workout. It's only $1.99 on the Market.

Q: What is the difference between the pro and free version?
A: For Android users, we have implemented distance and calorie tracking features! You can now tap the center dial to see all your stats at the end of our run. There are also added skins in the Pro version so you can customize your app even more, as well as removal of the banner ad.

I started running by playing Ingress (ingress.com) in a downtown area. I was walking from portal to portal and then started running in between the portals until I was running the whole time to maximize my attack time. Before I realized it I was running 5 to 7 miles a day. Similar to C25K the slow start with ever increasing run time is what changed me into a runner. I came home one day after a run and saw a half marathon scheduled for the following morning and thought "what the heck". I did fine and it was my first race ever. I love the feeling I get from running and still play Ingress several morning a week. I also use Runtastic for my running app but know several people that like runkeeper too

The only other app I use is mapmyfitness, and I do not use any of their challenges/programs. I use it for GPS purposes, to track my route and how many km I've completed. When I did c25k, I'd start mapmyfitness and run it in the background on my phone, then opened c25k to follow the program. When I was done, Mapmyfitness would calculate calories burned (better than zen lab did) and update MFP for me.
