replacement

Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement of French Onion Dip? It's like crack for me...

As in something to go on a chip? Fresh homemade salsa! It's about 55 calories a CUP... and it's really good on a lot of different foods.

When I'm making salsa, this is about what I do:

3 3/4 pounds of diced tomatoes (I dice small)
    1 pound diced onion
2 1/4 pound diced jalapeno (I run mine through the blender or food processor)
    2 ounces cilantro
    3/4 apple cider vinegar
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons garlic powder (or granulated garlic)
    2 tablespoons salt

I run the jalapenos, cilantro, and about 1/4 cup of the apple cider vinegar through my food processor.. or a blender works too. Put that all together in a bowl and you're done. 575 calories in those ingredients, it makes 10 1/2 cups.. so that is 55 calories per cup.

If you need something creamy.. add 1-2 tablespoons sour cream per cup of salsa. I do that for the kids.. covers some of the spice.

You can make it a bit less calorie laden if you use fat free sour cream or mayo and mix with half a package of onion soup mix (I usually do two TBSP soup mix to 1 cup mayo or sour cream to lessen the sodium).

I have also made one with homemade mayo, a bit of homemade sour cream and some dehydrated onions, garlic and some herbs. Super yummy! Still a bit higher calorie but much less than the store bought ones.

I never make a lot of the dip as I will eat it all if I do.
