This is new to me. I'm an RN in an acute care hospital. I need to lose about 40 lbs. I enjoy the gym and eating healthy but I find it difficult to be consistent! It would be inspiring to hear your story and ideas.

I worked out and rarely ate junk food. Was still overweight. Some education and a little more willpower and I made progress.

Well... I was always underweight until I got type 1 diabetes (age 9). Back then, medical treatments were not as advanced. So the CDE put together a plan with specific amounts of specific types of foods and particular amounts of insulin (they also didn't have the insulins available today, but that is another story).
The food amount was the exact same amount every day, but it was too much for me. At first, I felt like I was being forced to eat and eat and eat. That changed quickly. I gained 20 lbs. in the first month and continued to gain 60 lbs. in a year. Within a few years, I was obese and diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes (i.e. I had both type 1 and type 2 diabetes or "double diabetes," before it was as common as it is today).
As I grew up, I continued to be fat. I was diagnosed at 18 with Hashimoto's. I never thought I could lose weight, but newer insulins, insulin pump technology, and CGM have helped. Still, I'm losing very very slowly (about 0.25-0.3 lb./week on average), but at least I am now finding it is possible despite being very frustrating at times.0
