Time and calories

Hiya,
Sorry I've got a few questions to ask, I'm a bit of a excersize newbie so some questions may sound silly!
If I set myself a goal to excersize 1 hour a day, would it have the same results if I were to split it into three 20min workouts (such as morning afternoon and night) or will it be better to do the hour in one to break out more of a sweat?
If an hour a day would be better, should I do this before or after I eat? Morning or night? Does it even matter?
Lastly I weigh 215 pounds and consume roughly 1000 - 1200 calories a day, how many calories should I aim to burn a day? I got a wii fit which I can set a daily calorie goal for and before I get myself set up wanted to ask you guys.
Thanks.

My opinion is 1 hour at a time vs. breaking it up, but you may have to ease into that depending on how hard you work out. Also, I try not to eat before I workout. I workout first thing in the morning. However, if you can't do that, I'd wait at least an hour or two before a workout.0

Thank you that's very helpful I've got this stupid voice in my head that says if I excersize in the morning I'll put it all back on in the day which is probably rubbish lol. But yeah I thought an hour in one would be best.0 -
I still haven't been able to talk myself into the fitbit. How do you like it? Well at only 1000 to 1200 Calories day - I can 't see you having that problem. To me that seems like a pretty tall order. If you can sustain that I bet you'll lose a lot of weight really quick if you are consistent with your exercise. I've never been good at the counting calories thing I just try and eat really clean and alternate with protein shakes and bars. Good Luck!!!0

Thanks! It's pretty easy for me at the moment because I've been placed on a strict diet where I can only have certain things but come Monday I'll probably have trouble! I don't have that fitbit thing it's a little too pricey for me, I was talking about my wii fit which I absolutely love! Xx0 -
Whether you break up your exercise into three 20 minute sessions or do it all at once will likely have little to no effect on your weight loss. Calorie burn will be affected by total time and intensity so if the total is equal, it's all the same. Sweat is not indicative of calorie burn.
Morning or night doesn't matter. The best time to exercise is the time of day when you can fit it in. Whether you eat beforehand or not is a personal decision, best based on your own experience with how you feel when you do/don't eat.
Eating 1000-1200 is not necessary and, for most people, is not sustainable. Eating at a moderate deficit is more likely to result in long term adherence.0 -

Cheers jemh. Atleast I know there isn't a right or wrong time to do it. I'm fine with how many calories I'm consuming at the moment but if I struggle at least I know it's not the end of the world if I have a bit more0
