Hi, I would like to freeze portions of 1 cup homemade broth in the freezer. Any one else do this? Please suggest which containers to use. Thanks.

You should be able to use zip-lock freezer bags. The freezer variety are a bit more sturdy. Ice cube trays would work too, but you would need several "cubes" to equal a cup.

    It depends.

Are you heating them up at home? a styrofoam coffee cup isn't bad for that.

Are you taking them to work and eating it there? I got some heat safe mugs for that, with tops, from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I like to use mason jars and those plastic takeout containers. I buy the reditainer ones from amazon, they come in all sizes. I have also frozen soups in gallon ziploc freezer bags. Start them flat on a cookie sheet, and once frozen you can stack them to save freezer space.

I use leftover lunch meat containers, they usually hold about 2 cups. They stack well and come out much better than Ziplocs.

I like the plastic Ball jars for freezing liquids. You can find them in the grocery store with the canning stuff. They have lime green plastic lids and they come in 1 cup and 2 cup sizes. I either use those or my vacuum sealer bags.

I always use freezer bags. As Emily said, makes it easy to store them flat.

I store soup in freezer containers from the dollar store. 3 for $1.00. Since I store the same things in them over and over I just take things out and fill them and pop them back into the freezer without washing them.
