Lifting while on calorie deficit

Is it a waste of time? I'm on 1300 cal a day. Will it lifting benefit me? Thx

    Not at all. It will help you retain muscle mass while cutting.

    ETA - the not at all was the answer to "is it a waste of time".

    It is not a waste of time.
    Lifting has been the best exercise for me. I am keeping my muscle mass, shaping my body and strengthen my bones. Just need some rest between weightlifting days, eat more lean protein and keep good weightlifting form. All positive.

    Great responses above.. it will help you lean out and drop body fat but at some point you are going to have to come out of the deficit.
