Not sure what this means

Hi, I did my monthly measuring today. My weight is the same as last month as are most of my measurements except my legs. My top thigh has gained half an inch and my mid thigh has gained half an inch. I have been doing Stronglifts for the past year and have recently switched up to PHUL. I am eating mostly at or just below maintenance so I doubt this is muscle growth, but my weight is steady so I don't think this is fat gained.

What do you think it is??

(I have considered measurement error from last month, but I am usually so careful when I measure my legs as I am a pear and really want to see their progress - probably why I want to understand this odd result so much!)

    You can't spot reduce.

I've had months where i lose weight but my measurements remain the same or even increase slightly.

its the overall trend you need to watch.

How recent is recent? Any new exercise can cause the affected muscles to swell due to extra water going to that area to help with the rebuilding. Not growth, probably, but muscle still repairs itself when you stress it in new ways.

Ohhhh I didn't even consider swelling. Recent is this week kinda recent. Didn't really think it would have much of an impact as I have been lifting heavy for over a year

I increased on my arms this month - but lost a shedload of inches everywhere else. I can't explain it but I'm going with it :) I'm leaner, lighter and happier. Perhaps the body just "does" this?!
