Looking to start losing weight (again)

Hi everyone!
I'm trying to lose 50 pounds and I'm not totally sure how to start. I've lost weight using MFP before, but after a stressful first year in university, I gained it back plus more
But I'm tired of hating my body and talking about losing weight but never doing it. I'm thinking of doing more weight-lifting and less cardio as I've heard it's better for weight-loss, but I don't really know what I'm doing. Food-wise, I'm trying to figure things out too, especially how to deal with my spontaneous bouts of cravings, but I'm getting there.
Any advice would be appreciated, and I would love to have a buddy through this journey.
