Confused about jogging

Hi, I just started jogging/walking in August. I can do 1.7 km. I figured out that is .80 something miles. So how do I record that in MFP? So confused cause it wants miles per hour and it takes me 20 or sometimes 15 min. I rather not invest in a fit bit at this point, I know those can be very helpful for joggers. Can anyone help me?

You can switch to kilometers. Or start measuring in miles.
Or you can use an online conversion chart and a pace calulator.
1.7 km would be just over a mile. 1.6km is about 1 mile.0 -

1.7 km would be just over a mile. 1.6km is about 1 mile.
And if that is the case, if you are doing it in 15 minutes, that's 4 mph and if you are doing it in 20 minutes, that's 36 mph.

I would say that's more fast walking verses a jog.0 -
You don't need a fitbit if you have a phone. There are free apps that will track your distance walked for you automatically in miles or km. Google fit is one. I think map my run is another that works with my fitness pal.Erinsmiles2015 wrote: »Hi, I just started jogging/walking in August. I can do 1.7 km. I figured out that is .80 something miles. I have a tablet but don't want to carry it with me....can I still use those apps? I downloaded map my run but then took it off my tablet cause it seemed like I'd have to bring it with me when I jog0

How much do you weight in kg? If you weigh 80kg, give yourself 80 calories every km you cover. That will be close enough for the near future and no gadgets required.0

Most of those apps use your mobile device's GPS to keep track of where you went and how fast you were going. However, I used to use Runkeeper, which will let you log/map a walk or run on your browser when you get home.
I'd note when I left and when I got back, and then use their map feature to map where in town I'd gone. This would give me an average speed (obviously it didn't know my highest speed, etc, like it does when you have your phone with you), and an estimate of calories burned (if you use that information).
It's not as exact as if you took a phone with you, but it gives you at least a bit of that statistical information.0
