What accreditation does this dietician have? And how long did they tell you to eat 1000 calories per day? And when they told you to eat 1000 calories, what advice did they give you about exercise or supplements?
I'm not going into their stuff, I want everything to be anonymous is where and who I am. Trust me is good.and is only for 1 month, then wanting to wean back to my regular intake. I haven't gone over suppliments, I wasn't planning to take them when we talked. And I'm supposed to gage my feelings and take it easy on exercise, hence why I'm asking to see if anyone thinks even easy p90x 2 is too much0 -

Oh my sweet Summer Child... that's not fat (as long as you're being accurate with your intake). That's WATER. You are NOT gaining fat on 1400 calories per day.
I did. I went from a size 2 to 14.... it's not water trust me.
Then you were averaging a lot more than 1400 cal/day
Nope. Not every body works the same, really.spacequiztime wrote: »What's your height, how are you measuring your foods to get your daily calorie count, and how much weight are you losing per week?
Sorry I'm on my phone so I'm not seeing every post. I'm 5'8 and I'm using a scale and my dieticians chart. I'm losing only 1.2 lbs on average a week, and I lost 2.1 my first week but haven't hit that close or high since.0 -
If you went from a size 2 to a size 14, you were eating way more than 1400 calories/day. Were you weighing/logging your food when you were gaining weight? And starvation mode as you described it doesn't exist. If it did, anorexics and starving people in developing countries would be fat, not super skinny. The human body cannot store energy unless there is a surplus of energy.0

Without more details, yes. It's too much if all you're eating is 1000 calories.0 -

Yep, they do, actually. Eat too many calories, they gain weight. Eat too few calories, they lose weight.0 -
Sweet heart, you're going to destroy your relationship with your body and food, and this is not the group of people that is going to hold your hand while you do it. I hope you do some more research and spend some more time around here to learn. We've all been there. We've all done the stupid thing. And there is a lot to learn from talking to other people who have done the stupid thing.0

I'm an inch shorter than you and I maintain on around 1800 calories per day. There's no way you gained all that weight on 1400 calories per day, nor are you only losing 1 lb. per day on 1000 calories per day. You're eating more than you think you are. I think you have a problem with disordered eating and body image.
As far as knowing how much you are eating, you need to buy a food scale and weigh all of your solid food and log it (entering your own nutritional data, not the inaccurate entries in the MFP database), and then you can be sure of how many calories per day you are actually consuming.
And stop taking all the pills, they aren't doing a darn thing for you.0 -

I'm not starving, I'm so full usually, just trying to make 1000 makes me feel sick. I usually easy 1400 when I'm not dieting, I don't eat allot to begin with. My mom's words are dumb, I know that, I was just asking if that for someone like new who doesn't eat a lot naturally, if I'm over doing it. I have spoken to a dietician, I should have mentioned that in my post. I'm actually encouraged by them. Yes them I've seen more than one.
If this were true you wouldn't have 65 pounds to lose. If you're not weighing out your food with a scale and using proper MFP entries, you're most likely eating a lot more than you think.
I do, my metabolism is great at staying at my weight. I had gained this weight when I had a personal problem that I was dealing with, that led me into starvation mode. When I was coming off starvation mode I gained the weight. You don't know all the facts, and not every body works the same.
You can tell me I don't know the facts and not everybody works the same, but you are the one that seems to be unaware of the facts. No, not everyone is exactly the same, but the situation you are describing is highly unlikely. You are 24 now according to your profile. No young girl in their 20s would go from a size 2 to 14 on 1400 calories per day. It's science. In fact, the only way I see this kind of weight gain at all from someone who claims to be eating low calorie is if they are recovering from an eating disorder. Since I "don't know" all of your facts, I'll just say that if you are recovering from an ED you should not be on this board. You claim your dietician told you to eat 1000 calories per day; this is already a red flag. Did your dietician tell you to take those supplements too? Doubt it. You seem to have an unhealthy relationship with food and weight loss. You're also becoming irate with anyone asking you for more information or challenging your statements in any way. You seem to have posted to get the answer you wanted to see rather than actually reading the advice/opinions of others.

You are so young to be doing all that sweetheart, it's not likely to end well. The sooner you learn that there is nothing magic and that it's more about healthy portion control and a huge amount of patience the better off you'll be. I'm glad you are over 18 and I hope you are able to live on your own a bit.
Eat some real food, and follow the calorie portions set in here, and develop some patience. It won't happen quickly for you. When we focus on just the process (the nice slow deficit with a few eat up to normal maintenance days to keep hormones stable), then the results will surely come later. Then you learn how to sustain for life.
Ditch the pills, they won't overcome the hormone changes in your body from eating a deficit so low for too long, the hormone changes will create a crash and binge. Then you will know it's no good. I just hope you listen to your body when that happens. Upping your calories a bit to something just slightly under what your uses for maintenance will still cause fat loss.0 -
Hope the op sticks around and reads some threads.
They sound like they are falling for all the myths and mistakes people starting out make.
My suggestion is weighing food and logging accurately so you actually know how much your eating.
The numbers I am seeing don't seem to line up.0 -
The laws of physics apply to all ... even the OP.0

If you truly gained weight on 1400 calories, it's not a 'slow metabolism'. Something would have to be seriously wrong, I would go to the doctor to get checked out because there could be some health issues that need addressing.
Having said that, were you using a food scale and weighing everything solid that you ate when you were at 1400 calories? Only using measuring cups for liquids? Logging every single bite? If not, it is way more likely that you were simply underestimating your calories.0 -

On top of that I'm doing a 1000 calorie diet (healthy/clean eating is a lot of food and on the pills I don't feel hungry past 1000 some I've cut out calorie drinks). I'm not over exerting myself even on workouts, I'm sitting down at work, pace myself, cook and clean at home. I'm wondering if I'm over doing it.
The reason I ask is my mother gets surgery, had her stomach/back/butt/thighs done and now is doing p90x 3. She is fit and always putting me down for my weight. I'm trying and doing good, she even was encouraging me until she found out I'll be 2 sizes smaller than her current body she paid for, even though I'm shorter. She's saying I'm unhealthy but I'm really looking into what I'm doing and not doing anything I don't feel good with. So am I over doing this?
Edit: I eat more if I'm hungry, I'm usually not. I can eat up to 1300 on days with a really hard workout. And the pills are helping me, even if it's just a placebo.inmoonlightdreams wrote: »Stop wasting money on scams, get an appointment with a dietitian because you desperately need to figure out what a healthy diet looks like regarding calories and get a therapist to help you deal with your mother. Ok. You can cut the Hydroxycut. It is good as a tool to get your eating under control but nothing more. Garcinia Cambogia you could also do without but is up to you. P90X2 is a good workout but if you are not pushing yourself you are not getting the effects of it. It is designed to exert yourself. If you are modifying that is fine but you should be building yourself up on it to be able to do it all the way and with full exertion. 1000 calories is to low though. You should be getting at least 1200. You have to fuel your workouts. The nutrition guide with the program explains all of that. You are going to burn calories doing the workouts. If P90X2 is just to much go to P90X or P90 and start from there. Follow the guides and really go all out at the workouts. Don't listen to you mother. If she can't handle that you are getting smaller than her maybe she isn't really doing P90X3 to the full extent of it as well. I have used these programs and yea you can make the motions but not really be doing them. She may have paid for what her body is but you can make yours better by eating right and really doing the workouts.0 -
If your mother found this dietitian for you, forget it. I would say forget the dietitian completely at this point anyway after your updates.
You are describing an eating disorder. A very unhealthy relationship with eating. And a very poor understanding of how your own body works. You need a therapist. Someone who specialises in eating disorders and who can help you deal with your family. You have the big elephant in the room you do not want to see, and will crash and burn trying to make irrelevant changes. You need to address your relationship with your mother and what this has done to your relationship with your own body. Unless you fix the cause, things just will keep getting worse.0 -
brianpperkins wrote: »You're taking pills that really don't do what they claim, failing to fuel yourself appropriately yet still have to ask if you're doing this wrong?
This - in the nicest way possible.
You are taking (in my opinion) totally unnecessary supplements and eating far too few calories. The bottom line is, you are seriously deprived of essential calories/nutrients/vitamins and for absolutely no good reason. Eat more - use MFP to determine how much more & stick to that number. Ditch the pills and trust the process.
As for your mum, I agree with the poster above - the best revenge is living well. I'm trying to work out why a mother would say that to her daughter and I have no answers except she doesn't want to see you succeed, so my advice? SUCCEED.
Best of luck.0 -
I know somebody that went to coma for 8 months after taking hydroxycut and working out. Please be careful.0

I see that the OP either doesn't have a profile anymore or I don't have access. I just wanted to say that you CAN refuse to talk to your mom about weight and fitness. Your body is not her body and your struggles are not her struggles. You don't even have to be overt about it. You could just change the subject or speak in generalities. I had to put my foot down with some female family members with respect to how we talk about our bodies in front of my daughters. I put it in a "I need your help with this and I think we should end this body image crap with my generation." (Yes, I am trying to lose some baby weight and some of the people who talk about their bodies do have some weight to lose, but the insane comments and self-hatred are not something I am ok with exposing my daughters to and they're not helpful in fuelling and maintaining our bodies /rant).
The ONLY person who needs to be ok with how your body looks and feels is you.0
