Not sure wether I should class my self as sedentry or lightly active. If my daily steps averaged out are around 9,000 and no other real exercise apart from general housework would you say I'm sedentry or lightly active

I have a Fitbit charge HR that's why I mentioned the steps.
For the first time since I joined my fitness pal to Fitbit my calorie exercises have been In the negative on my fitness pal.
It says my goal is 1200, drunk 27 calories then -68 exercise remaining 1105. What does all that mean.
On Fitbit I've done 1734 steps and burnt 584 calories if that's any help to working out how to explain it to me.

I have a desk job so I've set mine to sedentary, though I average 15000 steps a day from walking part of my commute and during my lunch break. I just log any walks that are over 20 minutes as exercise.

Lightly active usually refers to a somewhat active job, like, say a teacher where you're up on your feet most of the day.

In another thread, @tomatoey describes it like this ...

Sedentary: Spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job)

Lightly Active: Spend a good part of the day on your feet (e.g. teacher, salesman)

Active: Spend a good part of the day doing some physical activity (e.g. waitress, mailman)

Very Active: Spend most of the day doing heavy physical activity (e.g. bike messenger, carpenter)

If (and only if) you enable negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings, choosing an activity level is entirely a matter of personal preference when you have a Fitbit synced to your account. At lightly active, you'll start with more calories in the morning but get smaller adjustments. Either way, your adjusted goal is TDEE minus deficit.

You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Click on the adjustment in your diary to see the math MFP used to calculate it. A negative adjustment means you've burned fewer calories than your activity level.
