Tips for staying on track?

Does anyone have any tips for staying on track with making better choices and exercising? I seem to do really good for about a month and then slowly start going back to letting myself go back to my old ways of eating...which starts another cycle of feeling horrible all the time and too tired to peel my carcass off the couch to exercise. It's a vicious cycle!! The difference this time is that I'm not going to allow myself to be back in that junky eating/no exercise phase for as long as I have in the past...but I need some good tips to regain control quickly. I am trying hard not to be so hard on myself and just giving up because I've already made a bad choice...that has been my pattern as well--I eat something sugary/greasy/fatty and think to myself that the damage is done so I might as well eat whatever else I want, and then that is all that I want. Also looking for some tips to stay strong when it feels like others are working against my efforts (knowing that I am trying to make changes but bringing in junk food (to my office...not just the kitchen outside of my office that I can usually stay out of!), talk about really unhealthy but yummy food, suggesting "cheats", etc. I know that I am responsible for my choices and don't have to give in to temptation...but sometimes the temptation wins out, and so begins my cycle again!). I know will power is important, and I want badly to make changes, but I have a hard time not making mountains out of my molehills. Any suggestions?

We all get the body we want. The only question is; do we want to stray from our diet/exercise plans or do we want a better body?

Which do we want more? The results we get will tell us.

I think you should look into flexible dieting, or the if it fits your macros approach. Frankly the latter seems like a lot of work to me, but I have had success with eating what I want, in moderation. I make room for a Snickers PB square almost daily (yesterday, it was 2).

One of the blog posts that MFP put up (which most are complete bs) had a trainer suggesting that everyone have a fall back. What is ONE, EASY healthy thing you can do on your bad days that will help you feel like you're still on track? Eat fruit? 10 push ups? A walk around the block? Pick one thing, that you can do no matter what. That way when you have a bad meal, a bad day, whatever, you can do your 25 squats and still feel like you're moving forward. It actually makes it MUCH easier to get back on board the next day. We all have bad weekends. Trust me. You just have to get back on board.

One of the bs "rules" that isn't actually a rule, but a very helpful guideline for me, is to absolutely never ever miss a Monday. It sets the tone for the whole week.

Pictures. Pictures. Pictures. Full body. I know we hate the camera when we're out of shape. But now that I'm down almost 50lbs I SO wish that I had more full body photos to compare to. When you find your self frustrated, feeling like you haven't made progress, put on the same outfit as one of your beginning pics and take some new ones. Compare them side to side. It's so helpful. Now, I take pics like every other day. Any time I put on clothes that are getting too big or any time I'm really feeling myself. Go selfie crazy!

Now that I'm about half way through my goal, I get really frustrated that omg I still have like 61lbs to lose. I've been making myself look at those pics from the beginning and it helps. It helps to make myself remember that I lost 45lbs already. I'm almost half way there!

I found some great instagram accounts that I find motivating. My favorites are fighting2getfit and yourgirldoesworkout.

Sorry for the novel... Good luck! Feel free to add me if you want some motivation & camaraderie!
