How can I tone up my belly fast?

Losing weight will help get rid of it obviously. I read an article of how if you do sit ups while you have a belly you will end up with muscle underneath and it will make your belly look bigger. I'm now scared to do sit ups ever again but they worked before but I did lose a lot of weight at the same time. I'm losing weight slower this time so it hopefully stays off. What foods should I avoid? Thanks so much!

You don't need to avoid any foods.

There is no such thing as "toning."

    You can't do it "fast."

    You can't spot reduce.

Maintain a caloric deficit and the weight will come off but you cannot choose where it comes off first.
Add in some weight training if you aren't already.

And don't be afraid of situps. The abdominal muscles are just like any other muscle group. They want to work. Deadlifts and squats will work them well. Adding other ab exercises is fine as well, but you don't need to do 200 situps a day. I like weighted crunches and weighted hanging leg raises. That way I can add weight and get them stronger over time.

Working them now will not make your gut bigger. I have been trying to make them bigger for months without success. But, damn, are they getting strong.

    And all the above posts.

    Yes, darn good!

Beside situps there are some targeted positions that work. Push-ups are excellent, but your back must be evened with legs so you actually feel tension in your abs. All exercises in plank posiion work like magic - plank jacks, in and out's, side jumps. Try also high knees jogging and jumping jacks. Take care of your knees and don't push yourself over the limit. Jillian Michaels is great for abs.
