Hi for the last few weeks I have been completing 10000 steps per day. Yesterday 10584 steps equated to 584 calories today 11800 steps only 246. Anyone any idea why?

If you're using a Fitbit my guess would be the number of active minutes/flights of stairs/etc. resulted in a higher calorie burn in fewer steps.

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight. It's based on way more than just step count—including sex, age, height, weight, and exertion level. Did you have more active minutes on the day you burned more calories?

But you're comparing your MFP adjustments, not your Fitbit burns. Click on any adjustment in your diary to see the math MFP to send to calculate it. If (and only if) you enable negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings, your adjusted goal is TDEE minus deficit.
