Sedentary?

I set mfp to sedentary but I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week. Do I need to change this or is the exercise just an extra on top of the caloric deficit just in my diet?

If you're using MFP method then you should eat back exercise cals.0

Sedentary relates to your lifestyle/job - nothing to do with exercise, that's completely separate.
So your daily calorie goal is + exercise calories.
