i must admit when i started to lose weight i was comparing myself amongst the people around me. It drove me nuts, esp when i was comparing myself with people who were almost 8 inches shorter than me and smaller framed etc. I got myself in a good head space where I realised that other peoples bodies are not my concern. So my plan is to keep get stronger and looking leaner.

I'm happy with my body and my position on the bell curve which is above average if average is a BMI of 22-23 - and I assume you, OP, are my height (5'8) as 165 is a BMI of 25

My BMI is 24 at 158lbs

I'm lighter than 79% of people of my age and gender in my country (UK), interestingly that makes me lighter than 83% of those in the US

I find this. I am more or less at goal weight. I fit a size UK 6 But I'm 5f0 and small framed with child size hands and feet. I get more 'average' height women asking me about my weight and measurements mostly in a snarky way- As if they are making comparisons. I try not to get involved in that conversation - it's non of their business but it does upset me sometimes.

165 was my start weight and is considered "obese" for somebody 5 feet tall. I've supposedly grown to 5'2" (according to my last doctor's visit) and have dropped down to 156.5. Being the average for me was okay, but I did not like being told I was obese. It was a little shocking and it took me about a year to do something about it, but I wasn't unhappy at that weight.

The world would be a much better place if more people realized this.

In the US, the average American is overweight. I'd like to think that people would like to be better than that.

Average weight is fine for me. Average body composition/aesthetics/strength is not.
