It really is very difficult to pick just one, but I'll give it a shot.
I think if I had to pick my favorite song overall, I'd say Time by Pink Floyd. This is one of the only songs that I will absolutely not flip past on the radio, skip ahead on, or turn off before it's over. This song, to me, perfectly sums up the struggle and futility that we can feel in life.
This song has brought me to tears a few times in the past, and I'm sure will do so again in the future. It reminds me of my childhood, and makes me think of the future. It makes me sad, happy, lonely, and grateful all at the same time. There is no single song that can make me feel this same range of emotions. Even the guitar solos seem to cry out to me, making me feel deep and ponderous things.
I can listen to it when I'm happy and feel one way, or listen to it when I'm sad and feel another. The lyrics are simple, yet impossibly deep. Though it was recorded decades ago, the truth it holds stretches out across time to play on your heart strings like those of Gilmour's guitar.
If you haven't listened to it, I highly recommend you do so. Headphones and closed eyes make for the best experience.
