NROL (men/women) - your perspective/take on it?

Hey all,

So long story short, I've gained a bunch of weight back after losing 96 lbs several years ago. I had lost weight with clean eating and working out with weights (I had dreams of competing in figure competitions at the time!). I had great muscle and was very fit.

So now, back to having another 95 lbs to lose and no muscles at all. But this time I'm busier and can't handle the stress of figuring out not only eating plans, but workout plans. I have NROL (original version) and NROLFW (just got this). I'm thinking of just following one or both for workouts. I've read varying reviews on these books, but I'd like to hear from anyone at MFP that has tried it and done the whole program, from either book. Did it work for you? What did you like about it? What did you not like? Would you recommend it to someone like me (experienced with weights but currently very out of shape)?

Thanks for reading!

Didn't like. Weird descending rep pattern bugged me. No good explanation for starting weight bugged me. Workouts were too fussy for me.

I think it's probably good for a basic beginner and I do think that the exercise glossary is good as a reference but I hate the programming itself.

Thanks for the comment @jemhh. I'm looking for good basics, nothing "fussy". I wonder if the original program would be better?

All of this. The program was just too fussy for me. I like Strong Lifts 5x5 for a nice, non-fussy whole body workout.
