Fitbit doing strange things

Today I had a typical work day, lots of walking on campus, dragging roller bag, and a zumba class. My fitbit by the end of the day was showing around 2000 calories and sync'd with MFP gave me quite a bit to eat. Then, when I sync'd again, the fitbit software went into some kind of update. After that, my total calories on the device dropped to only 1730. I know that MFP will adjust down with negative adjustments (which I have set in MFP), but I've never seen the fitbit itself drop down to a lower calorie level than it registered earlier in the day. Unfortunately, I had already eaten according to the higher level, so I ate over 250 calories over my goal, not so good since I came back from a vacation, so I don't really need those extra calories right now!
