Fitbit

Hi guys

Bought a fitbit zip to monitor steps etc. Was thinking this fitbit works out your daily calorie use based on your BMI and the calories burnt during the day based on steps.

After excercise on the fitness pal diary would you add the total calories burnt according to fitbit against food intake?....previously i only enter food eaten and calories burnt in gym

Thank you

It's a personal preference. You can set it up to automatically adjust your calories (both positively and negatively if you're extra lazy one day), or you can manually enter them. Or, you can just use it to validate your activity setting (sedentary, lightly active, etc.) and adjust that if you find you're frequently more or less active than you thought.

Personally, I do manual adjustments if needed.

    Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit

Set your goal to .5 lb. per week for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

In the MFP app, go to More > Steps and choose Fitbit.

Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments. No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time.
