Hi :) I've looked into whether or not weight loss can distort tattoos, and received mixed answers... Do any of ya'll have before/after weight loss tattoo pictures or input? How did weight loss affect your ink?

I have only seen it on pregnant ladies that had tattoos on their bodies, but it doesn't happen to everyone. Do you watch Master Chef? Graham was VERYYY large and lost an amazing amount of weight. The tattoos on his arms look good still :)

I've heard from a couple people that tattoos look bigger after weight loss, well, because you become smaller and the tattoo stays the same.

Draw a picture on a balloon. Deflate balloon.

The very last excuse I would cite to avoid losing weight would be the impact on tattoos.

Impact on tattoos definitely does not make me want to avoid losing weight. This question was asked in the spirit of those you often see about loose skin and stretch marks after weight loss... Asked out of curiosity, not to put in a pros and cons list. Just wanted to clear up the intention of this post.

My tattoo on my thigh seems to have grown! It's so weird!

I imagine it depends on where your tattoo is? :]

My friend has tattoos all over her tummy. She got pregnant - bye bye nice butterflies, hello little blotches! ;)
    She owns them anyway!

I kinda wish I had moved the one on my outer calf a touch lower or angled it slightly one of the lines hits a muscle crease when flexed but it hasn't changed no matter how big or small I've been

I've seen it happen, but usually only if the person lost a lot of weight very quickly.

As mentioned above. If its on your stomach and you get pregnant, yes it will stretch and look bad.

But if its on your arm, or leg, chances are those body parts will not stretch as much.

My arms have grown a full inch since I've gotten into fitness, my half sleeve still looks the same.
  • I have a tramp stamp. I don't know about other locations; I only have the one. It's about the diameter of a softball, and it has stayed that way. I got it around my lowest body weight 10 years ago. I've gone up and down since then, and I am talking about both gaining 100+ pounds and rapid losses of 100+ pounds after gaining back that weight. My tattoo still looks like the day I got it. It doesn't look like someone drew on a balloon and blew it up and/or deflated it.
