    here's a 5.pt quiz

4 song titles embedded in the lyrics, and a fifth song that (like the one true ring) binds them!
Good luck and, to quote our bard, no wagering

    1. Sinatra said this was his kinda town
    2. Where the Saints march
    3. If you can make it here...
    4. Pinball wiz found freedom there

    and..
    5. What do these songs..in this order, have in common?

    With a little research...

    1. New York
    2. New Orleans
    3. New York (I always thought it was Broadway, but found New York in the lyrics)
    4. Philadelphia
    5. Crescent - Amtrak route

You've got the songs, but we're looking for a musical connection, and the sequence is important.
    here's some clues:
    4.a Baltimore
    4.b DC
    4.c Detroit
    4.d Los Angeles
    5 ______________________________(song title)

Oops. Chicago. I always think of Heart Of Rock And Roll with a city sequence reference. There's another one, but it escapes me at the moment.

    Wasn't this a remake?

    1. Chicago
    2. New Orleans
    3. New York (I always thought it was Broadway, but found New York in the lyrics)
    4. Philadelphia
    5. Dancing In The Street (Van Halen is the version I remember, but I thought it was a remake. Yeah, Martha & The Vandellas)

Ha! I was thinking Heart of Rock and Roll, too. But that didn't fit. Well done.

3-way Mash-up (see spoiler for definition). I'll provide the 3 artists (in order) and you have to provide the 3 connecting songs. Buena suerte y no apuesten, por favor!
    Definition:
    Mashup: MA` sh * up: (n)
The would-be song if two artists mashed their titles together
    Example:
Artist: George Gerswin and the Elvis =
Song: I can't give you anything but LOVE Me tender

    1. Chubby Checker
    2. The Beatles
    3. Tears For Fears

    OK here goes:

    Counting Crows +
    Elvis +
    Prince +
    UB40 +
    Booker T & the MGs +
    REM +
    =
    Kermit

These songs have something in common that adds up to the last song.

Ouch my head hurts trying to wrap around this one.. :confounded:

since I don't think i have a horse in this race, I'm hoping I can nudge the real contestants closer

I'm guessing a colorful ('bule suede', 'purple rain' , 'red wine') theme here...

Booker T would be "Green Onions"

    I'm thinking "Rainbow Connection"???

Yep, those are all right. One last clue. Counting Crows song was a remake of a Joni Mitchell song.

Well, I'm going to take the google cheat as an answer:

Counting Crows + Yellow Taxi Cab
    Elvis + Blue Suede Shoes
    Prince + Purple Rain
    UB40 + Red Red Wine
Booker T & the MGs + Green Onions
    REM + Orange Crush
    =
    Kermit Rainbow Connection

It was a group weekend effort. Anyone feel free to go ahead...

I can throw one out. Looking for the singer in common and not the duo or groups that performed them.

Stumblin' In + Living Next Door To Alice = [singer]
