    (hand held firearm + what you go over when you're old + cars drive on one) + (when I was young I had a "butch" cut) = [band/song]

    This may take some investigation and some extra clues. I just heard it out of the blue yesterday and it's a one hit wonder from the early 70s.

    Here's a "mask" for the band and song. The xxx+xxxx means those two clues are concatenated together for the first word in the band name.

    xxx+xxxx + xxxx -- xxxx + xxxx + xx + xxxx + xxx + xxxxx

    If you need more clues I can add letters like hangman.
